Investigators with the Christian County Sheriff's Department said they believe someone set Crofton's water plant on fire and stole a city-owned pickup.
According to police, the fire was reported at the facility on Dripping Springs Road on Tuesday morning at about 2:16 a.m.
When officers arrived, they said they found the metal shed next to the main brick building at the water plant was on fire, and several other items were missing.
Police said a white Chevrolet crew cab with "Crofton" on the door panel and a yellow light bar on top had been stolen.
Investigators are working with the State Fire Marshal's office to determine who caused the fire and why. They are interviewing several witnesses and residents of Crofton in order to gain more information about the arson.
Anyone with information may call the Christian County Sheriff's Department at 270-890-1300.
