NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Adele is cancelling her planned 10-city tour of North America, including a planned stop at the Ryman Auditorium next week, because of throat issues.

In a statement released Tuesday, those performances were canceled, blamed on a hemorrhage into her vocal chord.

Her tour was supposed to begin Friday in New Jersey. She was to play in Nashville on Monday (Oct. 10). Refunds can be obtained at point of purchase.

"Singing is literally my life, it's my hobby, my love, my freedom and now my job," Adele wrote in a blog post on her website. "I have absolutely no choice but to recuperate properly and fully, or I risk damaging my voice forever.

"I have great confidence in believing you know how much this upsets me, how seriously I take it and how truly devastated and annoyed I am by this."

The best-selling British soul singer canceled some U.S. concert dates in April because of laryngitis.
