More than 70 items were an the agenda for Tuesday's meeting, including a plan that would require the Board of Fair Commissioners to gather proposals for a new theme park at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds.

In his proposal, Councilman Bruce Stanley says the 117-acre site is an ideal location for an amusement park with rides, games and other forms of entertainment.

His plan calls for a park with a country music and NASCAR theme.

Stanley believes the park would attract tourists, increase city revenue and provide valuable work opportunities for Nashville residents.

Other items on Tuesday's agenda included a measure that would waive about $500,000 worth of traffic tickets issued in Lakewood.

About 1,200 drivers who tried to pay the fines found out that they could not after Lakewood dissolved its charter in May.

Council members also looked at a plan that would rename the Municipal Auditorium.

Under the proposal, the arena would be known as The Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium.

City leaders have agreed to let the Musicians Hall of Fame lease 35,000 square-feet in the basement of the arena.
