A LaVergne man is accused of having a neighbor's car towed from the neighbor's driveway and selling the vehicle for scrap.

Christopher Lewellen, 19, was arrested after police say he called a towing company to pick up a 1996 Honda Accord from the neighbor's property on Blake Moore Drive. Lewellen reportedly told the towing company that the neighbor had sold the car to him, and he wanted it towed to a recycling facility.

He received $356 for the vehicle at the scrap facility.

He has been charged with vehicle burglary and felony theft of property valued at more than $1,000.

Police say Lewellen had also stolen guns from his father in order to pawn them, and he was in possession of synthetic marijuana.

He has prior arrests in LaVergne for aggravated burglary and theft over $1,000.
