Students and faculty from Pope John Paul II High School in Hendersonville spent Wednesday outside the classroom for a lesson in serving the community.
Channel 4's cameras caught up with one group that spent the entire day at the Nashville Rescue Mission.
Some students painted the outdoor courtyard, while others served meals in the kitchen.
Ninth grader Amanda Bates said it was her first time at the mission, and she felt it was good to go out and do something helpful in the community.
More than 100 students and teachers took part in the day of service.
