Plan would boost Columbia police pay

Posted: Updated:

City leaders in Columbia are working on a plan to boost the pay for police officers.

Channel 4 news partners at the Columbia Daily Herald report City Manager Paul Boyer wants to use more than $200,000 in city reserves to increase the base officer pay.

The money will increase the entry level pay for police officers by almost $2.75.

Officers who are already on the force, who don't make at least $15.20 an hour, would also see a boost in their pay.
