Mt. Juliet recognized as playful city

Posted: Updated:

The towns of Mount Juliet and Sweetwater in Tennessee have been recognized as playful cities by a national nonprofit group.

KaBOOM! said the two are among 151 cities across the country chosen as Playful City USA communities.

Mount Juliet, just east of Nashville, was cited for its plans to partner with other organizations to improve the safety of parks and playgrounds. Additionally, the county health department will help spread the message about play and health.

Sweetwater, in Monroe County, has allowed organized sports leagues to use city facilities, an agreement that helps provide additional access to play spaces and involve a large portion of the community, KaBOOM! said in a news release Tuesday.

KaBOOM!, based in Washington, describes itself as dedicated to saving play.
