NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Metro police say a package believed to be suspicious and left near an entrance to a west Nashville shopping center Thursday is not a bomb.

Police and the bomb squad responded to the Walmart Supercenter at 7044 Charlotte Pike after 7 p.m., where they examined a suitcase left by a trash can. They did not report the contents of the suitcase, but they deemed the area safe.

Police closed a portion of the parking lot while they investigated, and shoppers were allowed to continue accessing the store through a different entrance.

No injuries were reported.
