NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Metro detectives are working to identify the young man who punched a juvenile court officer in the face Monday evening outside a Mapco Mart at Eighth Avenue North and Jefferson Street.

Alonzo Giles, 38, was outside the market at 5:45 p.m. loading ice into coolers for his youth football team when a black Pontiac G-6 two-door sedan pulled up.

The driver, who appeared to be a teenager, asked Giles if he was an officer at juvenile court.  When Giles looked up, the passenger from the Pontiac suddenly punched him in the face, according to police.  Both individuals then fled in the Pontiac.

The assault suspect is described as a black teenager with dreadlocks and gold teeth. Giles was treated at Baptist Hospital for a bloodied nose and sore face.
