Nashville curbside brush pickup still behind schedule

Posted: Updated:

It's a problem that is starting to irk some people around Nashville - storm debris and brush pick up.

Public Works director Billy Lynch spoke last month with Channel 4 about the delays.

"Right now, it's frustrating to us," Lynch said. "Services cost money. And it's people, material and equipment. It costs."

The department at the time reported a two-week delay in the scheduled clean-ups.

But one month later, many of you keep emailing us and filing reports on our new 'See, Click, Fix' feature asking why it's taking this long to pick up from storm and brush debris.

So, Wednesday we contacted Metro Public Works to find out what is really going on. They refused to talk with us, because they spoke with us last month about the issue.

All they would tell us is that the situation is the same as last month, which we assume is still a two-week delay.

Some of the delay can be attributed to a new law cutting back on the number of brush pick-up dates.

Plus, Metro has cut back on the number of trucks and workers in order to make budget.
