Posted: Updated:

Metro police are searching for an inmate who they say escaped from a work detail Wednesday afternoon.

Police say Jacob Foster, 28, was picking up litter near I-440 East and I-65 South before fleeing.

Foster is serving a 23-year sentence for several Sumner County theft and burglary convictions. He would have been eligible for parole in 2016, according to the Tennessee Department of Correction.

Anyone with information on Foster's whereabouts is urged to contact police or TDOC at 615-741-7144.
