Body found inside crashed car in Clarksville

Clarksville police are investigating a homicide after a body was found inside a vehicle near a business Tuesday morning, according to police.

At about 6:56 a.m., 911 received a call from a business owner about a vehicle parked behind a Crossland Avenue business with the doors open, possibly with a person inside.

When officers arrived, they found a vehicle that had run into the side of a building with a deceased man inside.

The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Douglas James Deante Ramey of Clarksville.

Police said the death is being investigated as a homicide. Officer Jim Knoll said investigators determined Ramey's time of death as sometime Monday or early Tuesday.

"It's something that will probably linger here in this community for a while. He'll be sadly missed," said family member and pastor Wilbur Burney.  "He comes from a big family and they're all gathered here in support, wanting to know what's going on, what happened and why did it happen."
