Proposed Putnam County tax increase fails

Posted: Updated:
COOKEVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A decision to hold steady on property taxes is putting three new schools on hold in Putnam County.

The County Commission voted down a plan Monday night to increase property taxes.

That money would have helped pay off the bond to build a new Monterey High School, a new Baxter Middle School and an addition at Upperman High.

It is not clear at this time if they have any other plans to cover that cost.
