Nashville housing market seeing improvements

Posted: Updated:
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The Nashville housing market is seeing improvement for the first time this year.

The greater Nashville Association of Realtors says home sales in July were up by nearly 16 percent from last year.

Realtors say it's a sign the market is slowly recovering.

Pending sales are up, condo prices are on the rise, and single family homes are steady.

Overall sales are still down for the year compared to 2010, but the first-time homebuyer tax credit drove a lot of folks to buy last year.

Nashville realtors say they're optimistic, because pending home sales are up.

Realtors say right now is a great time to buy because interest rates remain at a record low.
