Convention center won't go over budget, says Mayor Dean

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Mayor Karl Dean said the new convention center being constructed downtown won't go over budget.

This announcement comes despite the city having to pay twice as much as they thought they would for a piece of land.

A jury recently ruled that the Metro Development and Housing Agency would have to pay Tower Investments $30 million for its land. MDHA had offered $14 million.

Two other properties are still fighting with the city on how much their land is worth.

Dean said the land costs won't impact the bottom line, but they are reviewing the situation each day and will make alterations if needed.
