Police: Maury County woman not kidnapped

CULLEOKA, TN (WSMV) -

There's an update to a bizarre kidnapping case in Maury County. In fact, Columbia police now say it's not a kidnapping at all.

William Straubharr, 55, reported early Tuesday morning that his ex-girlfriend Jamie Wright, 34, was missing.

Straubharr said he got a call from a private number saying that Wright would be harmed if he didn't pay $150.

The Columbia Daily Herald now reports that police are not treating this as a kidnapping. They said someone just targeted Straubharr for money.
