Hoeganaes plant fire victim dies Thursday

Posted: Updated:
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A man badly burned at the Hoeganaes plant in Gallatin earlier this year died at Vanderbilt Medical Center Thursday evening.

Fred Tuttle was listed in critical condition in the Vanderbilt Medical Center's burn unit for several weeks following an incident at the plant.

Tuttle was injured when metal dust inside the plant reacted with a gas leak, causing a flash fire. Two other workers were killed.

The deaths followed an accident in January that killed two employees.

Benefit For Victims' Families

There will be a fundraiser for the families of workers killed at the Hoeganaes plant.

A poker run is planned for July 23 in Gallatin.  There is a $20 registration fee for those who want to participate.

The event begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Half Time Sports Bar and Grill on West Eastland Street.
