Traffic mess expected during Fourth of July celebration

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Thousands of people will be heading to Downtown Nashville Monday night for the official "Let Freedom Sing!" July 4 Spectacular.

The family fun zone begins downtown at noon Monday with festivities for all ages.  Live Music beings on the riverfront from 12:30 - 6 p.m. Musical acts include The Jompson Brothers, Ayla Brown, The Willis Clan, The Cleverlys and The Dirty Guv'Nahs.

The official "Let Freedom Sing!" concert featuring country music star Darius Rucker, Street Corner Symphony and the Nashville Symphony Orchestra will begin at 7 p.m.  There will also be a special performance by Nashville actor Barry Scott during the show.

Fireworks will begin around 9:30 p.m.

With thousands of people expected to converge on the downtown area, event organizers are suggesting concert goers arrive early and have a parking plan in place before you arrive.

Some suggested parking locations include lots E & F at LP Field and the Metro Courthouse/ Public Square garage.

Road Closures for Monday, July 4
6 a.m.   - Commerce St. from 2nd Ave. to 3rd Ave.
             - 2nd Ave. from Demonbreun to Church St.
             - 3rd Ave. from Demonbreun to Commerce St.

8 p.m.    - Woodland Street Bridge
              - Union St. from 2nd Ave. to Bridge
              - Gateway Bridge
              - Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge

 

The Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge will re-open immediately following the conclusion of the fireworks show.

All roads are expected to re-open no later than 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
