Metro police said they anticipate filing charges in a fatal head-on collision in Madison.

According to investigators, Paul Thompson, 60, was driving east on Myatt Drive around 12:25 a.m. Sunday when he crashed into a car head-on.

Witnesses told police the car driven by Steven Phillips, 37, was traveling at a high rate of speed. Police said Phillips couldn't control the car going around a curve and struck Thompson's pickup head-on.

According to officers, Thompson was not wearing a seat belt, and died at the scene.

Police said Thompson's passenger, Nedra Knox, was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Knox was wearing a seat belt, police said.

Phillips was also transported to Vanderbilt with minor injuries and also admitted to drinking prior to the wreck, police said.
