Police investigate drowning at Tims Ford Lake

Posted: Updated:

Emergency crews recovered the body of a 25-year-old man who police believe drowned in Tims Ford Lake.

Officials told Channel 4 rescue teams were called out to the lake around 6:30 p.m. Saturday to help find Kenneth Carter.

The 26-year-old was at the lake with friends when he apparently decided to jump off of Lee's Ford Bridge.

Police said Carter did a front flip off the bridge and landed in the water.

Witnesses said they heard a scream and Carter never resurfaced.

Searchers used sonar and an underwater camera to locate Carter's body.

Police said the man's remains were sent to the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy.
