NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The Metro Police Department has taken steps to ensure the badges of indicted and decommissioned police officer, Richard Wilson, will never be worn again.

The two badges once assigned to Wilson have been crushed and cut and are now on display in the lobby of the Metro Police Academy.

The display bears the inscription, "These badges will never be worn again by any Metropolitan Nashville police officer."

Wilson was indicted on federal cocaine charges on June 15 following a Metro police and FBI sting operation. A U.S. Magistrate has ordered that Wilson remain in custody. The process to dismiss him from the police department is underway.

Police Chief Steve Anderson said he hopes the display will serve as a reminder of the professionalism that is expected from all officers.
