Nashville family escapes house fire

Posted: Updated:

A south Nashville family lost their home to a fire Sunday night.

The fire started at about 10:30 p.m. at a house on Pasadena Drive.

District Fire Chief Willard Fletcher said that when first responders arrived, flames were already visible on the rear and center portions of the house.

"It was already through the roof when we got here," Fletcher said. "So it got through the roof and the attic on the back side of the house."

According to Fletcher, a man, woman and two children made it out of the house safely.

"The owner of the house said he heard a noise at the back door, so he went to see what it was," Fletcher said. "When he got to the back door all he saw was flames through the window of the door, and he got his wife and kids out as quickly as possible."

Firefighters could not immediately determine what caused the fire.
