Man Accused in Nashville Burglaries Captured In Colorado

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The person police said is responsible for one of the most serious crimes in Belle Meade in recent history is behind bars after being arrested in Colorado.

Police say Jarrett Mooneyhan was behind a string of crimes, including robbing a 16-year-old girl inside her Belle Meade home at gunpoint in 2009.

"It was obvious he wasn't going to stop," said Belle Meade police chief Tim Eads. "And then to walk into a home and point a gun at a 16-year-old girl. It could have had a bad outcome. Fortunately, it didn't."

Mooneyhan is accused of stealing the girl's car and purse and using her ATM card. He also is thought to have been involved in a holdup at a Wendy's in Green Hills, forcing workers into a cooler, and in the robbery of a west Nashville gun store twice.

Police say that just as they were about to arrest Mooneyhan, he fled to Florida, then to Denver, hiding out and committing more crimes along the way. Authorities finally caught up with him in Fort Collins, Colo.

Mooneyhan has already served time in Colorado for crimes he committed there. He faces a long list of charges in Belle Meade and Nashville, including aggravated burglary and robbery, and several probation violations. He has also been charged with aggravated assault against an officer after police said he tried to run over an officer after one of the robberies.

"As long as he's locked up, that's one less person we have to worry about victimizing some innocent person," said Eads.
