NASHVILLE, Tenn. The 70th annual Iroquois Steeplechase will be held at Percy Warner Park Saturday.
The Metro Police Department expects more than 25,000 people to attend the horse race, which benefits the Monroe Carell, Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt University.
Over the past three decades, the Iroquois Steeplechase has raised more than $9 million for the children's hospital.
Lane closures will affect traffic on Old Hickory Boulevard before and after the race.

"Plan on spending a little extra time to get in and out of the event," said Metro police spokeswoman Kristin Mumford. "I know people pack picnics and plan to spend the whole day there, so that shouldn't be a problem."
Mumford also said officers would be on the lookout for drunken drivers.
