State Archivists Seek Civil War Artifacts 3-15-2011
Archivists with the Tennessee State Library and Archives and the Tennessee State Museum said they will visit Ashland City on April 1 to find Civil War artifacts for a new virtual exhibit. The archivists will be at the Cheatham County Public Library, 188 County Services Drive, from 9:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Photographs, letters, muskets, shells, diaries, uniforms and other mementos will be considered. Assistant state archivist Wayne Moore said the items will be scanned or digitally photographed, and that some may even end up in the online exhibit, called, "Looking Back: The Civil War in Tennessee." Moore said curators will also offer advice to owners about the best care for their collectibles. Individuals may call 615-253-3470 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule a reservation with archivists. Reservation forms and available times may be found in the State Library and Archives' section of the target="_blank"> Office of the Secretary of State's web site.
