Metro Emergency Office Suggests Be Home By 6 P.M. 2-24-2011

With severe weather moving into the region Thursday evening, Nashville's Office of Emergency Management is urging residents to be home by 6 p.m. and to remain there for the rest of the evening.
OEM spokeswoman Amanda Sluss urged residents to take precautions to stay safe if you have be out after 6 p.m.
In addition, the Metro Public School system has decided to cancel or postpone all after-school activities, which include tutoring services, Twilight programs, athletics events and practices or any other school-sponsored event scheduled for Thursday.
The Middle School Basketball City Championship Games, which were scheduled for Thursday evening, have been postponed to Friday. The championship game will remain at Whites Creek High School.
Vanderbilt Children's Hospital laid sandbags as a precaution. A Vanderbilt representative said the lobby has taken in water in the past, and the sandbags are an attempt to make sure it doesn't happen again.
Nashville is under a moderate risk for severe weather.
