Police Seize Drugs, Cash In Madison 2-01-2011

Metro police say they seized drugs and $113,000 in cash from an accused drug trafficker at a Madison apartment Friday.
Officers said they had developed information that drug activity was occurring at an apartment in the 400 block of Riverchase Boulevard. They went to the apartment Friday, knocked on the door and received permission to enter, police said.
Officers said they immediately detected the smell of marijuana. Police said they then observed Brent Hardy, 26, walking into the apartment through a patio door.
When Hardy was questioned by officers, police said, he admitted he had thrown a few grams of marijuana onto the roof of the apartment.
In addition to the money, police said, they seized a loaded handgun, Xanax, a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Hardy was charged with being a felon in possession of a handgun and drug possession. According to police, Hardy has previous convictions for felony drug possession, evading arrest and unlawful weapon possession. He was also wanted on seven grand jury indictments.
