Kentucky State Police said an 18-year-old man was stabbed while trying to restrain a burglary suspect in Elkton Saturday.
According to investigators, Zachariah D. Farlow was stabbed while trying to stop Charles A. Mayes, 28.
Farlow was flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition.
Police said Farlow and another individual spotted Mayes breaking into vehicles and a garage located on Winding Oaks Drive around 1 a.m.
The two chased Mayes on foot and tried to subdue him at the intersection of Winding Oaks Drive and East Jefferson Davis Highway, officers said.
Investigators said a struggle ensued, and Farlow was stabbed.
Police said Mayes ran away and K-9 teams tracked him to a home on East Jefferson Davis Highway, where he was taken into custody about two hours later.
