Spc. Michael Stansbery lost his life in Afghanistan last week.
Stansbery's family asked residents to line the sidewalks between the Church of God on Pleasant Grove Road as his procession moved through town.
"It makes me feel proud to be a part of this country," said Mary Edwards.
She's a war vet herself but remembers Stansbery as the boy she taught in school.
"It gives me hope that the young people we have today will fight for the ideals that this country holds dear," said Edwards.
Stansbery was killed by an improvised explosive device while on patrol. He had just left for the war in June.
Visitation for Stansberry is scheduled for Saturday. Funeral services will be held Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, his family is asking friends to donate to Forgotten Soldiers Outreach .
