GALLATIN, Tenn.A former Sumner County teacher accused of abusing her students is making a deal.
Donna Weidenbenner taught special education at Station Camp Elementary. Last year, she was indicted on child abuse charges. Parents claimed she shoved, kicked, stood on top of and even strapped students to the toilet.
She has entered a no-contest plea to three child abuse charges. She was placed on probation for six years.
Weidenbenner's attorney said his client could not afford the cost of a trial and maintains her innocence.
This isn't the end of Weidenbenner's legal troubles: Parents of her former students have filed seven civil lawsuits against her.
