Rep. Moore Pushes Physical Activity Bill 3-03-2010

Some lawmakers think students need more physical activity during the school day.
Rep. Gary Moore wants to require that students have at least 30 minutes of physical activity built into the day.
Right now, schools must find 90 minutes a week for activity, but Moore said only 30 percent of schools are actually following through. He said in the push for more academics, physical education has suffered.
"During that process, physical education has been pushed aside to now we're not doing any PE at any of our schools, and that's sad," said Moore.
While lawmakers didn't advance the bill, they are going to study it further.
