Before you can enjoy the true Steeplechase experience, you have to know what it's all about.
Steeplechasing has all the thrills and speed of horse racing at flat tracks, like the Kentucky Derby. But it adds the precision of jumping to make you feel a little like you are at a track and field meet for horses.
There are 6 different races at the Iroquois, that can range anywhere from 2 to 3 miles.
The track is not typically level, and there are fences and hurdles for the horses to jump.
One of the great things about steeplechasing is it allows fans to get closer to the sport than flat racing. You can stand right next to the fence, watch the horses take off at the start line or wait for the photo finish.
The first race of the day is scheduled for 1 pm.
