Cara Kumari works the state Capitol beat for Channel 4 News.
She loves bringing important stories that happen on "The Hill" to viewers. However, she wears many hats, even anchoring sports from time to time.
Cara joined the news team in August 2007. She has reported on some of Middle Tennessee's biggest stories, including the May 2010 Nashville flood, which earned her a Regional Emmy Award and a National Emmy nomination.
Prior to working at WSMV, Cara spent three years at KAKE-TV in Wichita, KS. She often reported from the Kansas statehouse and covered the re-emergence, arrest and court proceedings of the BTK serial killer, Dennis Rader, who killed 10 people in the Wichita area from 1974 to 1991. She also worked at KFSM in Fayetteville, AR, and KOMU in Columbia, MO.
Cara graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia and is obsessed with Mizzou football and basketball. In her free time, she enjoys talking trash about her Fantasy Football team. She also loves running, yoga, reading and is addicted to shopping. She and her husband bought their first home in Nashville, and they share it with their Bluetick Coonhound and cat.
Cara is active on social media and loves interacting with people there. Be sure to follow @WSMVCaraKumari for news, random observations and the occasional laments about Missouri sports.
