The fishing on Guntersville the last few weeks has been great. The numbers have been 20-30 a day some days more depending on current.
The last few days the water temp has jumped which seems to make it a little tougher. The nice thing is you can fish deep or shallow and catch fish which opens up a wide variety of patterns.
On the deep bite 12-20ft the best baits have been the 6xd in summer sexy shad and green gizzard,10xd, ¾ Denny Brauer Structure jig, and a recon worm on 3/8 weight. A lot of the deep bite now seems to be current oriented with small feeding windows.
Shallow the fishing has been good on grasslines in 5-9ft on ¼ recon worms, KVD Sexy Walker, and shadalicious swimbait.
Saturday on Father's Day weekend I got the chance to fish a tourny with my dad. We had a great day. July looks to be a great month and I'm sure some big fish will be caught. Usually the numbers go down in this heat but size is still great.
