On May 19th the lake levels on Nickajack were at normal pool and steady. The water temperature has fallen from 77 to 69 in last few day due to a cold front. Crappie: The crappie fishing is starting to taper off a little but there are still a few being caught around the bridges and spillway tunnels. There have been some coming out of the deep creeks and channel swings as well. 1/32 oz jigs rigged with a blue and white tube have been getting the job done.
Bass: The bass fishing is up and down with some still on bed and some off bed. There are a few post spawners out deep that will bite a big crankbait or a swim bait but for the most part the majority of the fish are still shallow. There is grass starting to come up in several places and they seem to be holding to what is there. In the morning a spook over the grass is working well and when the sun gets up a 10 inch worm and senko in watermelon red flake or junebug is putting them in the boat.
Good luck and good fishing! Submitted by: Carter Day
