On July 30th the lake level on NickajackLake is normal and steady. The water temperature in the back water is 85-87 degrees and 83-84 degrees on the river.
Crappie - The crappie fishing is tough with a few being caught in 15 to 25 feet deep around the bridges. The best bait seems to be tuffies tight lined.
Bass- The bass fishing is like a roller coaster with some being caught deep and some being caught in the grass. The frog bite is good in the morning and evening and when the sun gets up flipping creature bait and fishing the edges of the grass line with a giant worm is the best. The deep bite is slowly going away but a few can still be caught on the ledges and deep hump. The baits of choice seem to be swim bait and crankbait and a few coming on a jig.
