NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- It may seem unusual for two college baseball teams to play their games inside a city park, but that's the way it is for Belmont University.
Tuesday afternoon at Nashville's Shelby Park, with the threat of rain in the air, the game went on. The national anthem was sung, there was a coincidental flight path flyover and then it all got official.Jim McGuire is the third-base coach, part of the Middle Tennessee State University staff for 18 years."Growing up as a kid, you look forward to this," he said. "You come out here, and you feel like a kid again."At these games, the off-the-field is as interesting as the on.Katie Sa-Rell is the team manager. She makes sure the Bruins eat right and look right."I do all their laundry, get all the stains out," she said.Jean Bell of Crossville is right there in right field every game and not bashful."I'm vocal in a good way, a supportive way," Bell said.
