Webster has been the subject of rumors and media controversy, speculating he was going to be fired at the end of the season.

Webster said he wanted to go out on his own terms. He resigned after the Tigers final game against OVC leading Eastern Illinois.

Webster lead his team to a 21-10 victory and was the recipient of Gatorade baths before leaving the field Thursday night.
