POSTED: 8:49 pm CDT April 29, 2009

(Sports Network) - Buffalo Bills vice president and the NFL's only female scout, Linda Bogdan, reportedly lost her battle with cancer on Tuesday at the age of 61.

According to the Buffalo News, longtime team president Ralph Wilson, also Bogdan's father, confirmed his daughter's passing through Bills vice president for communications Scott Berchtold Wednesday.

Bogdan had been appointed as vice president and assistant director of college and pro scouting and previously served as corporate vice president from 1991-2006, with a special interest in long-term planning for the franchise.

She joined the team in 1986 on a part-time basis and spent the past 20 years as a part of the scouting department. One of Wilson's three daughters, Bogdan spent time scouting collegiate games, including bowl games, all-star games and scouting combine events.

Bogdan grew up in the Detroit area and went on to become an accomplished amateur tennis player having won several club championships in both singles and doubles at The West Side Tennis Club at Forest Hills in New York. She resided in Englewood, NJ.
