NCAA Game Summary - Vanderbilt Vs. Alabama

(Sports Network) - Alonzo Gee scored a game-high 25 points to lead the Alabama Crimson Tide to an 82-75 win over the Vanderbilt Commodores in first-round action of the SEC Tournament at St. Pete Times Forum.

Torrance Mikhail also added 20 points for the Crimson Tide (18-13), while JaMychal Green checked in with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

The Commodores (19-12) were paced by Brad Tinsley, who scored 20 points in a losing effort. Jeffery Taylor also got involved, netting 17 points, while George Drake chipped in with 14 points.

Alabama got off to a fast start, shooting 46.9 percent from the field in the first stanza to take a 36-30 lead at the break.

The Crimson Tide kept the pressure on in the second stanza, knocking down 20- of-22 free throws en route to a seven-point victory.

Although Vanderbilt outscored Alabama 30-3 from three-point range, the Commodores couldn't overcome the Crimson Tide's 25-13 advantage from the charity stripe.

With the win, Alabama moves on to face Tennessee in Friday's quarterfinal round.
