Nashville Announces Two Signings

(Sports Network) - The Nashville Predators signed center Rich Peverley to a two-year contract and goaltender Pekka Rinne to a one-year contract extension, the team announced Friday.

The first year of Peverley's contract will pay the 26-year-old $475,000 at the NHL level and $100,000 at the minor-league level, as part of a two-way agreement. The second year is a one-way contract paying him $500,000. Rinne's one-year extension will take effect in the 2009-10 season and pay the 25-year- old $725,000.

Peverley played in a career-high 33 games last season for Nashville registering five goals and five assists. He also appeared in each of the team's six playoff games, posting two assists.

Rinne has appeared in three career NHL contests with the Predators since 2005-06, posting a 1-1-0 record and a 2.61 goals-against average. He led the AHL last season with 36 wins and led the Milwaukee Admirals to a Calder Cup Finals appearance in 2006 with 10 playoff wins including three shutouts. The two-time AHL All-Star was an eighth round selection of Nashville in the 2004 NHL Draft.
