The race for the District 5 Metro Council seat has been full of the two candidates' unsupported claims about their opponent.

Radio station WVOL-AM is currently airing an ad, voiced by council member Pam Murray, about attorney Jamie Hollin, the opposing candidate trying to unseat her of her east Nashville seat.

"We're talking about a person with bizarre behaviors that hangs out with drug dealers," Murray says of Hollin in the ad.

Hollin said that claim is ludicrous but explained that he does have some reformed felons volunteering on his campaign.

Hollin said Murray spends most of the time in Detroit and that she has 7,000 unopened e-mails in her inbox -- a complaint, he said, he's heard from Murray's constituents.

"I'm going to be here working for them," Hollin said.

Murray said she has been working to clean up the community for years.

"My community is strong. We will move forward. We've been through harder times before, and we're not going to go back," Murray said.

Murray has filed a police report claiming Hollin followed her son.

Some have alleged that people outside the district are trying to vote. Metro Election Administrator Ray Barrett confirmed one instance of this to Channel 4.

Early voting ends Saturday. The special election for District 5 is Nov. 12. Barrett said he expects the election to cost $12,000.
