NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Actor and former Tennessee senator Fred Thompson didn't make it far in his campaign for the presidency, but another national political role may be in his future.There is word Thompson is considering running for chairperson of the Republican National Committee.That means he would be the public face of the party.Thompson served one term as a senator before leaving to take a role on NBC's "Law and Order."Another Tennessean whose name is being thrown out as possible chair of the RNC is Chip Saltsman, who ran Gov. Mike Huckabee's presidential campaign.
