A sign has been placed on Belmont Boulevard that says, "The race to the White House runs through Belmont."

The Oct. 7 debate at Curb Event Center will use a town hall format with the audience posing questions directly to the candidates.

The Republican nominee for president is John McCain. Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., and Barack Obama, D-Ill., are vying to be the Democratic nominee.

The university has launched a Web site devoted to the debate. Visit the Web site here.
