Can you believe it? One more day of political madness, and its over for another four years.

Thank goodness.

So, who's going to win the run-off? Bob Clement or Karl Dean? Beats me.

Most insiders say it’s a toss-up. That's based on polls by the candidates.

The polls could be correct but maybe not.

Clement thought he had the general election won because of his name recognition, but he barely made the runoff.

Dean spent a bunch of money on television ads to buy his name recognition.

I bet a friend a box of donuts on the outcome. Hopefully, I'll lose because if there's anything I don't need, it's donuts.

The top campaign theme was no increase in taxes. Both candidates claimed they would not raise property taxes.

A few years back, a new Metro law went into effect allowing taxpayers to vote for or against new taxes. But is that legal?

Will someone challenge its constitutionality?

Although Councilman-At-Large Buck Dozier lost in the mayor's general election, don't feel sorry for the ex-fire chief.

The word is that Dozier has told friends of mine that both Clement and Dean have promised him a job either as Metro fire chief, director of the Metro's Office of Emergency Management or as police chief.

You can forget the police job, that's not going to happen.

I believe Dozier will head up Emergency Management in the next administration.

Remember. Candidates make a lot of promises before an election.

It's what happens after an election that counts. We'll see.
