On Tuesday, Karl Dean responded to a critical Bob Clement ad.

"Dean can think of lots of reasons to raise taxes. You can imagine all sorts of scenarios,” the ad claims.

Dean said he did make the statement after being asked at a televised mayoral debate “Under what conditions would you propose a property tax increase?"

Dean said he's against raising property taxes.

But Tuesday afternoon, Clement said that Dean has made conflicting statements about property taxes.

"I have repeatedly made a straightforward pledge not to raise property taxes,” Clement said.

Clement also maintains he's the only candidate who has consistently pledged not to raise property taxes.
