NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- WSMV-TV Channel 4 and the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce are pleased to televise the official debate between Bob Clement and Karl Dean in the 2007 Nashville Mayoral Runoff Election.

The debate will air in prime time on Aug. 20 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. live on WSMV-TV, Channel 4, and will be streamed live on WSMV.COM.

The debate will take place at the Massey Performing Arts Center on the campus of Belmont University. This event is free and open to the public.

WSMV-TV Channel 4’s first prime time debate in Nashville Mayoral Election generated enormous public interest. The debate drew an audience that beat programs airing during the same time period on both ABC and Fox.

"Our first debate proved that Nashville voters really do tune in and turn to WSMV – TV for information and guidance on major elections," said News Director Matthew Hilk. "The runoff debate promises to be an even more valuable event."

WSMV Anchors Dan Miller and Demetria Kalodimos will moderate the event in front of the live audience.

"The Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to partner once again with WSMV - TV Channel 4 in hosting another mayoral debate," said Mike Schoenfeld, vice chancellor for public affairs for Vanderbilt and chair of the Chamber's Policy Advisory Committee. "The Chamber considers the education of its members regarding key governmental issues a very important priority, and is proud to work with WSMV-TV to provide a forum for discussion between the final mayoral candidates. We deemed our previous debate a great success and look forward to further involvement in this mayoral election process."
