Kenneth Eaton is a 1975 graduate of Overton High School. He grew up in the Crieve Hall area of Nashville. At 18, Eaton opened up a second location of his family’s business, Eaton Auto Village. Eaton purchased his first home at 19 and at 20 bought out his parents’ interest in the Auto Village. Eaton and his wife, Toni, operated the business for 22 years. Eaton also has been buying investment properties in Nashville over those 22 years.
Eaton, 49, married his wife, Toni, in 1975. They have two sons, Jim, 30, and Tom, 25, as well as one grandchild. Toni Eaton operates Posh Hair Design in downtown Nashville.
Eaton said his administration has devised a plan to decrease the number of illegal immigrants in Nashville and a way to stop them from coming here.
Eaton said he will form a Council on Immigrant Relations if he is elected mayor. Eaton said that the council would establish two offices in Nashville for immigrants to apply for a Nashville City Card. The card would be the first step in the process of becoming a naturalized citizen, Eaton said.
“Illegal immigrants found to have criminal records will be given a case by case review, utilizing the Council of Immigrant Relations, as well as a Metropolitan Judge. If deemed safe they will be allowed to go through the legalization process. If deemed unsafe they will be deported back to their country of origin,” Eaton says on his Website.
Eaton said he would also like to see the 70 openings at the Metro Police Department filled. Eaton also said that bad management has police focusing on misdemeanor traffic violations instead of more violent crime. Eaton said that while other candidates claim that violent crime is down, it isn’t good enough for him.
“If our police executives were focused on protecting the community as opposed to increasing the police department’s budget, our community would be as safe and prosperous as it should be,” Eaton says on his Web site.
