Research Methodology

The data regarding the mayoral poll is based on a sample of 403 respondents living in the Nashville, Davidson County area.

All respondents were registered voters and "very" or "somewhat" likely to vote in the Aug. 2, 2007 Nashville Mayoral election.

Howard Gentry - 11 percent
Buck Dozier - 11 percent
David Briley - 8 percent
Karl Dean - 6 percent
Cheryl Lynn Tisdale - 0 percent
Kenneth Eaton - 0 percent
Don’t Know Yet - 52 percent

161 Men were polled. 242 Women were polled.

Thirteen percent of men polled said they would vote for Bob Clement. Fourteen percent of women said they would vote for Clement.

Sixteen percent of men polled said they would vote for Howard Gentry. Eight percent of women said they would vote for Gentry.

Twelve percent of men polled said they would vote for Buck Dozier. Ten percent of women said they would vote for Dozier.

Eleven percent of men polled said they would for David Briley. Five percent of women polled said they would vote for Briley.

Three percent of men polled said they woudl vote for Karl Dean. Seven percent of women said they would vote for Dean.

One percent of men said they would vote for Cheryl Lynn Tisdale. Zero percent of women said they would vote for Tisdale.

Zero percent of men said they would vote for Kenneth Eaton. Zero percent said they would vote for Eaton.

Forty-four percent of men said they do not know who they will vote for yet. Fifty-five percent of women said they do not know who they will vote for yet.

  • Five percent of the people polled from ages 18-34 said they would vote for Bob Clement. Thirteen percent of those polled from ages 35-44 said they woudl vote for Clement. Fourteen perecent of thosed polled ages 45-54 said they would vote for Clement. Nineteen percent of those polled ages 55-64 said they would vote for Clement. Six percent of those polled 65+ said they would vote for Clement. br/>

  • Nineteen percent of those 18-34 said they would vote for Howard Gentry. Twenty percent of those polled ages 35-44 said they would vote for Gentry. Nine percent of those ages 45-54 said they would vote for Gentry. Nine percent of those polled ages 55-64 said they would vote for Gentry. Six percent of those polled 65+ said they would vote for Gentry. br/>

  • Seven percent of those polled ages 18-34 said they would vote for Buck Dozier. Eight percent of those polled ages 35-44 said they would vote for Dozier. Twelve percent of those polled ages 45-54 said they would vote for Dozier. Fourteen percent of those polled ages 55-64 said they would vote for Dozier. Six percent of those polled ages 65+ said they would vote Dozier.

  • Zero percent of those ages 18-34 who were polled said they would vote for David Briley. Thirteen percent of those polled ages 35-44 said they would vote for Briley. Seven percent of those polled ages ages 45-54 said they would vote for Briley. Eight percent of those polled ages 55-64 said they would vote for Briley. Eight percent of those 65+ said they would vote for 65+ said they would vote for Briley.

  • Two percent of those ages 18-34 who were polled said they would vote for Karl Dean. Three percent of those polled ages 35-44 said they would vote for Dean. Six percent of those polled ages ages 45-54 said they would vote for Dean. Seven percent of those polled ages 55-64 said they would vote for Dean. Eight percent of those polled 65+ said they would vote for Dean.

  • Zero percent of those ages 18-34 who were polled said they would vote for Cheryl Lynn Tisdale. Zero percent of those polled ages 35-44 said they would vote for Tisdale. Zero percent of those polled ages ages 45-54 said they would vote for Tisdale. Zero percent of those polled ages 55-64 said they would vote for Tisdale. Two percent of those polled 65+ said they would vote for Tisdale.

  • Zero percent of those ages 18-34 who were polled said they would vote for Kenneth Eaton. Zero percent of those polled ages 35-44 said they would vote for Eaton. Zero percent of those polled ages ages 45-54 said they would vote for Eaton. Zero percent of those polled ages 55-64 said they would vote for Eaton. Zero percent of those polled 65+ said they would vote for Eaton.

  • Sixty-seven percent of those ages 18-34 who were polled said they didn't know who they would vote for. Forty-four percent of those polled ages 35-44 said they didn't know who they would vote for. Fifty-two percent of those polled ages ages 45-54 said they didn't know who they would vote for. Forty-two percent of those polled ages 55-64 said they didn't know who they would vote for. Sixty-five percent of those polled 65+ said they didn't know who they would vote for.

    Effect of Predators Leaving

    There is some talk the Predators will leave Nashville next year. Do you feel their leaving would have a major effect, minor effect, or no effect at all on the city? Four-hundred three people were polled.

    42 percent said there would be a major effect.
    40 percent said there would be a minor effect.
    10 percent said there would be no effect at all.
    8 percent said they did not know or gave no answer.

    Men Surveyed
    Thirty-eight percent said it would have a major effect on the city. Forty-four percent said it would have a minor effect on the city. Fourteen percent said it would have no effect at all on the city. Four percent said they didn't know or had no answer.

    Women Surveyed
    Forty-five percent said it would have a major effect. Thirty-seven percent said it would have a minor effect. Seven percent said it would have no effect at all. Eleven percent said they did not know or had no answer.

    Fifty-three percent of those polled ages 18-34 said it was very likely the Preds would leave. Forty-seven percent of those polled ages 35-44 said it was very likely the Preds would leave. Forty-seven percent of those polled ages 45-54 said it was very likely the Preds would leave. Thirty-nine percent of those polled ages 55-64 said it was very likely the Predators would leave. Twenty-four percent of those polled 65+ said it was very likely the Predators would leave.

    Forty percent of those polled ages 18-34 said it was somewhat likely the Preds would leave. Forty-one percent of those polled ages 35-44 said it was somewhat likely the Preds would leave. Forty-two percent of those polled ages 45-54 said it was somewhat likely the Preds would leave. Fourty-three percent of those polled ages 55-64 said it was somewhat likely the Predators would leave. Twenty-seven percent of those polled said it was somewhat likely the Predators would leave.

    Seven percent of those polled ages 18-34 said it was not at all likely the Preds would leave. Eleven percent of those polled ages 35-44 said it not at all likely the Preds would leave. Six percent of those polled ages 45-54 said it was not at all likely the Preds would leave. Ten percent of those polled ages 55-64 said it was not at all likely the Preds would leave. Twenty-two percent of those polled said it was not at all likely the Preds would leave.
