EXCLUSIVE: Bredesen Dominated Exit Poll Numbers

Exit poll data suggested that Phil Bredesen would be re-elected easily for a second term as governor of Tennessee, according to data compiled by Edison Media Research and Mitofsky International.From 1,988 voters who were interviewed, 66 percent said they voted for Bredesen while 33 percent voted for Republican challenger Jim Bryson.Out of those polled, 62 percent of the males said they voted for Bredesen while 37 percent voted for Bryson.69 percent of the females said they voted for Bredesen while 30 percent voted for Bryson.60 percent of the white males voted for Bredesen, while 39 percent said they voted for Bryson, according to the exit poll. 64 percent of white females polled voted for Bredesen while 35 percent said they voted for Bryson.In a larger disparity, 79 percent of non-white males said they voted for Bredesen, while only 20 percent voted for Bryson. A whopping 91 percent of non-white females who were polled said they voted for Bredesen, while only eight percent said they voted for Bryson.According to the exit polls, Bredesen had strong voting numbers regardless of the age of the voters. 68 percent of voters ages 18-29 said they voted for Bredesen, while 67 percent of voters over the age of 60 said they also voted for Bredesen. 65 percent of voters ages 18-64 said they voted for Bredesen.The National Election Pool is a consortium of ABC News, Associated Press, CBS News, CNN, Fox News and NBC News. It was formed in 2003 in order to provide information on Election Night about the vote count, election analysis and election projections. NEP retained the Associated Press to conduct a tabulation of the vote. NEP also contracted with Edison Media Research and Mitofsky International (Edison/Mitofsky) to make projections and provide exit poll analysis.
