Nashville Signs Sullivan To Two-Year Contract

POSTED: 6:19 pm CDT July 1, 2009

(Sports Network) - The Nashville Predators have signed forward Steve Sullivan to a two-year, $7.5 million contract.

Sullivan, who will turn 35 on July 6, has been with the Predators since being acquired in February 2004. He missed significant time when he sustained a back injury in February 2007, but returned to the team's lineup on January 10 of this past season after missing 142 consecutive regular-season games and 11 playoff contests.

He ended up playing 41 games in the 2008-09 season and tallied 11 goals and 21 assists, and after the season won the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy -- which is awarded to the player who "best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey."

A veteran of 12 NHL seasons since New Jersey selected him in the ninth round of the 1994 draft, Sullivan has 239 goals and 370 assists in 764 career games with the Devils, Toronto, Chicago and Nashville.
